***************************************************************************
- Update document -- Changes, Deletions, and additions to the PCLO Manual -
***************************************************************************
--- File for Version 2.5 Manual ---- Changes up to Version 3.4r of PCLO ---
***************************************************************************
Changes to the contents of the diskette:
Additions:
(2.7r) - The "Changes" directory, and one file contained in this
new directory; "Updates". This will be a permanent file
that gets updated with each revision to the system. An
"Empty" directory or drawer has been added as well.
(2.7r) - The "HoleCount" tool, in the main PCLO drawer, as well
as the source, and the compile and link scripts for it
in the "PlotSource" directory.
Deletions:
(2.7r) - The "Info" tool from the main PCLO drawer. This file was
a condensed user's manual. It has been removed to create
more room for other features. All of the information has
been incorporated in the formal manual for your use.
Errata for the manual:
Additions:
Page --4--, para 2, statement three drawers changed to
five drawers, 4th drawer is "Changes" drawer, 5th is
the "PlotSource" drawer.
Page --4--, para 2, add mention of "HoleCount" tool.
Page --7--, para 1, indicate "Changes" directory may
be deleted along with it's contents, and that the
"HoleCount" tool may be deleted as well.
Page --8--, para 4, indicate that the 1.2 release of
AmigaDos pops the workbench screen to the front when
a requester is rendered into it, so this will not be
a problem any longer.
Page --17--, between 'N' and 'P', add 'O', which is
the keystroke that activates the 'O'pposite vector
option on the last completed route. See changes to
program under 'O'.
Page --23--, under Key Definitions; the '2' key was
"blotched" when the manual was printed; the shape
for the '2' key is two diagonal lines from the top
left to the bottom right.
Page --30--, under Operate/DePlane, see changes to
program under Copy, move, and delete.
Page --31--, under Operate/Move and Operate/Copy, see
changes to program under Copy, Move, and Delete. Add
Item describing the "Toss" operation, see changes to
program under "Toss".
Page --34--, para 1, indicate that interupt driven
workahead operations may locate incorrectly if the
workspace window is changed while the system is busy.
Page --43--, para 3, add mention of Changes drawer, and
make "three drawers" into "five drawers". Para 5, indicate
that there will be a delay while PCLO loads the board
BEFORE it is ready for input from the operator. Add mention
of "PlotSource" drawer.
Deletions:
Page --4--, para 2, statement about "info" tool to be
removed.
Page --7--, para 1, statement about "info" tool to be
removed.
Page --43--, para 3, statement about "info" tool to be
removed.
Changes to the program:
Features added:
(2.6r) - All three of the Copy, Move, and Delete operations now can
operate on either all layers, as in previous revisions, or
only on the currently selected layer. Which type of these
operations is selected by a submenu attached to the actual
menu selection for the associated operation.
(2.7r) - When the board is saved, the teleport memory contents are
saved also, attached to the "layer1" record. These will be
recovered when the board is loaded, allowing the operator
to return to any location that was saved in any of the ten
teleport memories previous to actually storing the board.
(2.7r) - The "Toss" operation has been added. This allows you to
flip the entire workspace horizontally or vertically. It
is provided to allow a convenient way of orienting the
workspace identically to a physical board for verification
and entry of pre-existing physical features.
(2.9r) - The 'O'pposite function has been added. This function will
take the last trace routed and re-route it as if you had
specified the endpoints in reverse order. This function is
provided as a convenience, as the same effect can be had
by deleteing the previous trace, and re-routing with the
endpoint specification in the opposite order (hence the
name). Executing the 'O' operation twice will return the
trace to it's original state.
(3.2r) - The 'J'og function has been added. This causes the router
to require only the starting point of a route to be tagged
by the operator. The second tag will be made by the system
in a location that is in the same relative position as the
the last second tag that the operator made with a normal
route specification, using the spacebar. This is NOT a
route copy... It fully activates the router, which then finds
the best path to that point. In arrays, this is usually the
same type of path, and this is where the function is best
used.
(3.2r) - A menu option to turn the Amiga's INTERLACE mode on and off
has been added. This allows those who have longer persistance
displays to take advantadge of a more fully formed graphics
presentation.
(3.2r) - The period key on the numeric keypad now drops a 'node'
symbol, as does the 'n' key.
(3.2r) - The 'return' key now will perform a tag, just as if the left
mouse button was pressed, or 'left AMIGA/ALT' was pressed.
(3.2r) - The right AMIGA key can now be used in conjunction with
some keys on the keyboard to activate often used menu
options.
(3.2r) - The arrow keys may be used to navigate the area of the work-
space visible on-screen. When used with the SHIFT keys, they
move .500 inches, without, .050 inches.
(3.3r) - The display has been speeded up a great deal in the non-
magnify mode.
Features removed:
None.
Problems Fixed:
(2.6r) - Versions 2.5r and previous were supposed to create Icons
for parts saved in the PartsLib drawer. This didn't always
function correctly -- It is now fixed.
(2.8r) - Versions 2.7r and previous were unable to fully pan right
or down in magnify mode, by one screen width. Now fixed.
(3.0r) - Version 2.9r had a bug in the 'z' ContinueRoute function
that caused it to fail to operate at all.
This has been fixed for version 3.0r and succeeding versions.
(3.1r) - Versions 3.0r and previous were unable to be run in a large
memory (> 512k) machine due to linkage problems. 3.1r and
following will run in machines with >512k with no problems.
(3.2r) - Multiple copies in large memory should now be functional.
Sprite allocation was crashing the program if more than one
copy was initiated.
(3.4r) - Version 3.3r's display rework damaged the "pads only" option
display function. This has been fixed in 3.4r.
